Test Description

Venient Cx Hepatic Function Comprehensive is a groundbreaking blood-based screening test that provides extensive information about the liver and bile-pancreatic exocrine function.

This is an Evidence-Based Laboratory Medicine (EBLM) test developed not only in compliance with the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) guidelines, but also incorporating the latest scientific findings. Thanks to our proprietary machine learning (ML) algorithms, this test is able to accurately detect a wide range of liver-related diseases, e.g., hepatocellular (intrahepatic), cholestatic (extrahepatic), and mixed origin, and delivers comprehensive information. This test also calculates the 15-year risk of developing cirrhosis thanks to the chronic liver disease (CLivD) score.

United States Preventative Services Task Force (USPSTF) screening recommendations

The USPSTF recommends screening for hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in adults aged 18 to 79 years. However, Kience Inc. recommends our laboratory-developed test (LDT) Venient Cx Hepatic Function Comprehensive to target patients with clinical suspicion of: hepatitis A, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, hepatitis D, secondary hepatitis to CMV/EBV, autoimmune hepatitis, drug-induced hepatitis, drug-induced liver injury (DILI), metabolic dysfunction-associated with fatty liver disease (MAFLD), non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), liver fibrosis, liver cirrhosis, hemochromatosis, Wilson's disease, Gilbert's disease, cholestasis in patiehts with porto-pulmonary hypertension, liver cholestasis due to severe heart failure, or acute pancreatitis (alcohol-related, drug-induced, gallstones or hypertriglyceridemia).

Intended Use

The intended population for Venient Cx Hepatic Function Comprehensive test are patients with clinical suspicion of: alcoholism-related hepatitis, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, hepatitis D, secondary hepatitis to CMV/EBV, autoimmune hepatitis, drug-induced hepatitis, DILI, MAFLD, NAFLD, NASH, liver fibrosis, liver cirrhosis, hemochromatosis, Wilson's disease, Gilbert's disease, cholestasis, liver cholestasis due to severe heart failure, or acute pancreatitis.

Sample Clinical Vignette

A 58-year-old male, with persistent consumption of alcohol, presented a 6-month history of loss of appetite, jaundice, asthenia, weight loss, abdominal distention and easy bruising. Physical exam revealed generalized telangiectasis and ecchymosis on the chest and elbows, abdominal distention with presence of a wave sign and mild edema of the lower limbs. Serum is submitted to detect any hepatic disorder, including the stage of fatty liver disease and the risk of CLD (chronic liver disease).
