Venient Fx Parathyroid Function and Bone Metabolism Comprehensive
Test Description
Venient Cx Parathyroid Function and Bone Metabolism Comprehensive is a groundbreaking blood-based screening test that provides extensive information about parathyroid function and bone metabolism.
This is an Evidence-Based Laboratory Medicine (EBLM) test developed not only in compliance with the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (AACE) and the Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation (BHOF) guidelines, but also incorporating the latest scientific findings. Thanks to our proprietary machine learning (ML) algorithms, this test can accurately detect a wide range of parathyroid-related diseases, e.g., hypo and hyperparathyroidism, osteopenia, and osteoporosis, and delivers comprehensive information.
United States Preventative Services Task Force (USPSTF) screening recommendations
The USPSTF recommends screening for osteoporosis with bone measurement testing to prevent osteoporotic fractures in women 65 years and older. However, Kience Inc. recommends our laboratory-developed test (LDT) Venient Cx Parathyroid Function and Bone Metabolism Comprehensive to target patients with clinical suspicion of: primary hyperparathyroidism, secondary hyperparathyroidism, tertiary hyperparathyroidism, parathyroid gland cancer, hypercalcaemia due to malignancy (HCM), primary hypoparathyroidism, secondary hypoparathyroidism, or tertiary hypoparathyroidism, osteopenia, and osteoporosis.
Intended Use
The intended population for Venient Cx Parathyroid Function Comprehensive test are patients with clinical suspicion of: primary hyperparathyroidism, secondary hyperparathyroidism, tertiary hyperparathyroidism, parathyroid gland cancer, hypercalcaemia of malignancy (HCM), primary hypoparathyroidism, secondary hypoparathyroidism, or tertiary hypoparathyroidism.
Sample Clinical Vignette
A 42-year-old female, with a previous history of total thyroid resection for goiter, presented with numbness in her lips, fingers and toes among with muscle pain, cramps and stiffness. Physical exam revealed normal blood pressure (125/75 mmHg), bradycardia (56 bpm), positive Chvostek and Trousseau signs and hypoactive deep tendon reflexes. Serum is submitted to detect any type of parathyroid-related disease as including the possibility of calcium metabolism-related dysfunction.
Required Laboratory Determinations
Serum Electrolytes —Calcium, Chloride, Magnesium, Phosphate—; Serum Proteins (Albumin); Serum Hepatic Enzymes —Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP)—; Serum Hormones —Parathyroid Hormone intact (PTHi)—, Serum Vitamins —Vitamin D 25-OH Total—; Other Serum Analytes —Serum Creatinine—.
