Venient Fx Thyroid Function Comprehensive
Test Description
Venient Fx Thyroid Function Comprehensive is a disruptive, non-invasive test that provides comprehensive information on thyroid function.
It is based on a routine blood analysis and powered by both proprietary machine learning and public algorithms, and provides highly accurate broad diagnostic information, including the likelihood of having a wide range of thyroid diseases, e.g. primary, secondary and tertiary hypo- and hyperthyroidism, of both non-autoimmune and autoimmune etiology.
It is based on determinations of thyroid antibodies, thyroglobulin and different forms of thyroid hormones.
It is an Evidence Based Laboratory Medicine (EBML) test developed not only according to the guidelines of the American Thyroid Association (ATA), but also incorporating the latest scientific findings.
Screening recommendations
The United States Preventative Services Task Force (USPSTF) concludes that current evidence is insufficient to evaluate the balance of benefits and harms of screening for thyroid dysfunction in asymptomatic non-pregnant adults.
However, Kience Inc. recommends the Venient Fx Thyroid Function Comprehensive test to treat patients with symptoms, signs or suspected disease: hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, autoimmune thyroiditis (Hashimoto's thyroiditis), subacute Quervain's thyroiditis, multinodular goiter, Graves-Basedow disease, thyroid nodule, thyroid disruption secondary to drugs or pregnancy.
Intended Use
The target population for the Venient Fx Thyroid Function Comprehensive test is patients with symptoms, signs or suspected disease: hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, autoimmune thyroiditis (Hashimoto's thyroiditis), subacute de Quervain's thyroiditis, multinodular goiter, Graves-Basedow disease, thyroid nodule, thyroid disorder secondary to drugs or pregnancy.
Sample Clinical Vignette
A 48-year-old female presented for medical evaluation due to some weight gain (12 Kg in 6 months) and reduced appetite, mild dyspnea on exertion, constipation, cold intolerance and drowsiness. Physical exam revealed overweight (BMI 28), normal blood pressure (125/80 mmHg), mild bradycardia (58 bpm), dry hair, brittle nails and hoarse voice and a slight increase in thyroid size. Serum is submitted to detect any type of thyroid disease, including the type (primary or autoimmune) and etiology.
Required Laboratory Determinations
Serum Antibodies —Thyroglobulin Antibodies (Anti-Tg), Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (Anti-TPO), Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone Receptor Antibodies (Anti-TSHR)—; Serum Proteins —Thyroglobulin—; Serum Hormones —Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone (TSH), Triiodothyronine Total (T3 Total), Triiodothyronine Free (T3 Free), Thyroxine Total (T4 Total), Thyroxine Free (T4 Free)—.
